EDNA + HENRY

We love Winter weddings here at Sophie Voon Bridal, so we are excited to be able to share Edna and Henry's wedding day with you. Edna and Henry were married in a beautiful outdoor ceremony at James Murdoch Estate in Martinborough, overlooking the stunning Wairarapa landscape on a crisp Winter's day. The theme for Edna and Henry's wedding evolved as they made decisions along the way in terms of styling. They knew from the very beginning that they wanted the day to be relaxed and fun for everyone, as well as reflecting their tastes. They chose Piccadilly Flowers to create a beautiful floral archway for their outdoor ceremony. Bursting with lush greenery and bright floral accents, the archway looked just perfect against the idyllic winter setting.

When Edna came to us looking for her wedding dress she expressed she was after a really elegant gown, and that she was not shy of colour. "I was after a dress that reflected who I am and not just a white dress because that's the tradition". Edna chose a glamorous strapless red embroidered silk gown, with a ruched bodice and full skirt.

"The dress I picked is simply perfect - it made me feel like the most beautiful woman in the world, and it captured everything I wanted in a dress. Because of its style and colour, it is something that I am able to wear again - so I also feel happy about that part!"

Edna chose to accessorize her look with a striking sparkly necklace and earrings, as well as the most fabulous black and red floral boots. She added an elegant fur stole to wear for extra warmth and glamour. All of Edna's bridal party ladies also wore fur stoles and boleros to match in with their pretty dresses, even the littlest lady!

"My favourite part about picking my Sophie Voon dress is the many options it gave me for the outfits for the rest of the bridal party. It allowed me to choose the most amazing, striking colours that I've always dreamed of having." Edna's favorite moment of the day was walking down the stairs to the eagerly waiting crowd and seeing the beautiful ceremony set up.The stairs were dressed tastefully with paper pom poms and burgundy organza ribbons, with the wedding arch beyond. Pink, white and red petals marked the aisle, and the sun shone on everyone's smiling faces while beautiful music played. "It was amazing and I couldn't have asked for a better day."
